Terms of service
These terms apply to everyone who uses conference.international, and to organisers who buy promotion from us.

We reply to email within two working days. There is no telephone line; email reaches us fastest.
1. What this service is
conference.international is an index of academic conferences. Anyone can search it without an account and without paying. Organisers can list a conference free of charge, and can pay for the promotion described in section 5.
We index academic events: conferences, congresses, symposia, colloquia and academic workshops. We do not index trade shows, product launches or commercial sales events, and we do not index conferences run by organisers on our blocklist of documented predatory publishers.
2. How entries get here
An entry appears in one of two ways.
- An organiser submits it. The form is open to anyone; the entry is checked automatically and published if it passes.
- Our indexer finds it. We read public pages and openly licensed datasets, and we keep the plain facts of an event: its name, dates, place, subject and the organiser's own link. How the indexer works, and how to have an entry corrected or removed, is set out on our about page.
Every entry links to the organiser's own website. We are an index, not the organiser, and nothing here is an endorsement, accreditation or ranking of a conference.
3. Accuracy
We take care with what we publish, but conference details change and the organiser is the authority on their own event. Always check the organiser's website before booking travel, paying a fee or submitting work. We do not accept responsibility for a decision taken on the strength of an entry here without checking the organiser's own site.
If an entry is wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it, normally within two working days.
4. Organiser accounts
An organiser can claim the entry for their conference. Claiming uses a one-time link sent to the contact address published for that conference. You choose your own password; we never send you one and we never see it.
You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what is done through your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has access.
You may only claim a conference you are actually organising or authorised to represent. Claiming someone else's conference is a breach of these terms and we will remove the account.
5. Paid promotion, exactly what you get
Promotion is only available to a signed-in organiser for a conference they have claimed. We do not take payment from anyone who does not already have a live entry with us.

Prices are per conference and are the total amount payable in pounds sterling. If VAT becomes chargeable on these services we will show it separately before you pay.
A discount applies to campaigns bought several months at a time: 10% from three months, 15% from six months. The price you are shown before you pay is the price you pay.
What we do not promise
We want to be plain about this, because promotion is often sold with promises nobody can keep. We do not promise, and you should not buy on the expectation of:
- any particular number of visitors, clicks, paper submissions, delegates or registrations;
- any position in Google or any other search engine;
- coverage in any newsletter, social media account or mailing beyond what is written above;
- indexing, accreditation or recognition by any publisher, database or scholarly body.
What you buy is the placement described in the table, for the period described, on this website. That is the whole of it.
If we cannot deliver the placement you paid for, for example if all twelve homepage slots are taken for the month you wanted, we will tell you before taking payment, or refund you in full if it emerges afterwards.
6. Payment
Payment is taken through PayPal. We never see or hold your card details. A quote is issued to the contact address on your listing and is valid for 72 hours; payment is only accepted against a valid quote for a listing you own.
You will receive a receipt by email. Promotion starts when PayPal confirms the payment, normally within a few minutes.
7. Cancellation and refunds
These are set out in full in our cancellation and refunds policy, which forms part of these terms. If you are buying as a consumer rather than for a business, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days, explained there.
8. Using the site properly
You may not submit false entries, claim conferences you do not represent, scrape the site at a rate that burdens it, resell the index, or use the site to advertise predatory or fraudulent events. We may remove entries and close accounts that do these things.
Reports from readers are taken seriously. An entry reported by three separate people is suspended automatically while we look at it.
9. Rights in the content
The design, text, code and banners of this site belong to ISO LONDON LIMITED. Conference titles, logos and descriptions belong to their organisers. Where our index draws on openly licensed data, the licence and the source are named on our about page.
If you own material that appears here and you want it removed, write to hello@conference.international and we will deal with it promptly.
10. Our responsibility to you
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing in these terms affects the statutory rights of a consumer.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything connected with this service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or losses we could not reasonably have foreseen.
The service is provided as it stands. We work to keep it available but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
11. Ending the arrangement
You can stop using the site at any time and ask us to close your account and remove your entries. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and where we do so before promotion you have paid for has been delivered, we will refund the undelivered part.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Anything you have already paid for is governed by the terms in force when you paid. Material changes are announced on this page with a new date at the foot.
13. Complaints, and the law that applies
If something has gone wrong, write to hello@conference.international with the details and we will answer within five working days.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
